Microneedle RF In Acne Scars

Acne scar is a permanent structural damage occurred on skin after healing of infective acne.
  • Acne scars are usually the result of inflammatory acne lesions like red pimples, pustules, cyst
  • Worse the inflammation, the worse the scar.
  • The visible component of these types of acne is inflammation of the top two layers of your skin, the epidermis and the dermis.
  • The dermis is the second layer of your skin, and it’s where your oil glands, collagen, hair follicles, nerves, and blood vessels are. When the dermis is damaged to the point that any of the above tissue gets damages .… you get a scar.
  • More severe is the fibrosis, more severe will be the scar.
Acne scars can be of different type
  • Ice – Pick scars
  • Box scars
  • Rolling scars
  • Atrophic scars
  • Hypertrophic scars
  • Accidental Scar
Sometimes patient can present with mixture of all types of scars. In such cases, different types of treatments can be combined in the same session MNRF is one of the best advanced treatment modalities for acne scars which is mainly used to treat rolling and deep atrophic scars. This treatment is also used for skin rejuvenation, reduction of open pores, fine lines and wrinkles.

How Microneedle RF treatment helps to reduce depth of scar?
Microneedle Rf creates multiple microinjuries inside the layers of skin along with delivery of Rf energy to the deeper dermis. Microinjuries created on the skin helps to stimulate skin healing and thus formation of new collagen and elastin tissue inside the skin. This helps in collagen remodulation and reduce the depth of scar to a great extent. MNRF machine has microneedle cartridge. The cartridge is attached with the machine probe. The needle attached with this cartridge are insulated. Due to insulated needles the optimum energy is delivered at the level of collagen in the deep dermis and not to the epidermis. This laser helps to treat the scar from within without affecting the upper layer of skin. Due to this, after treatment chances of getting post inflammatory hyperpigmentation are drastically reduced. As compared to other scar reduction treatments like fractional Co2 laser or Derma roller, this treatment involves much less downtime. This treatment can be safely used in acne scar patients with darker skin types.

Post treatment-
  • Immediately after Microneedle Rf procedure, skin shows mild redness and swelling on the treated area which last for 1 or 2 days.
  • A strict sun protection is advised to get rapid healing with best results.
  • Min 2 to 3 sessions are needed based on the type of scar and individual skin collagen remodulation capacity.
